Hi MR2 lovers!
Just wanted to give you a rundown on how the Zupan's meet went. . . . it
went great!! We had a total of 18 cars show (Ron Hostetler didn't get his
turbo back, so didn't come, and Robert and Janet Beale were also no-shows).
We had 3 MkIs and the rest MkIIs. We had members come from all over the
area and Randy Hone, all the way from Victoria for the meet. We had two
owners from the Washington club also. There were over 700 car club cars and
287 race entries this year, so it was an absolutely fabulous car enthusiasts
event (more than triple last year's participation). There was the usual
'tech-talk' by some of the members, and lots of visiting and sharing
information and just walking around looking at, and taking pictures of,
fantastic cars. A big highlight was a red Ferarri F50 that showed up
(pictures below). Some of us actually watched some of the races as well
. . . there were some really exciting ones!
Supra Club parked in the coral next to us, so there was a lot of visiting
back and forth and car comparisons with them too . .. . a really fun bunch.
We got to participate in the parade lap both Saturday and Sunday, and were
the last group to go around . . . . only heightened our anticipation! You
don't get to go really fast . . . .about 70-80 on the straight . . . . but
you get the feel of what it's like to go around a road-course track and feel
those corners. It was definitely the highlight for all of us! We got
plenty of sun, as it was 87 degrees on Saturday and 82 or so on Sunday.
Saturday after the event, most of us went over to BJs pub and had dinner
together.
It was really a good, fun time, and of course we will participate next year.
I'll get everybody signed and paid up earlier next year, so we can get a
better corral spot . .. we were way at the back this year. The way the club
is growing, I bet we can get at least 30 cars next year! Watch the webpage
(www.paisano.net/mr2) for the pictures which will be up within a day or two.
Ken Blake is planning an event for October, so watch the future events link
for details on that event. Remember everyone . . . . if you want more
events it's up to you to plan them . . . .I always do the Zupan's event, but
it's up to you the members, to put other events together.
Happy "2LIN" !!
Dana
